Console the Man
Trebor reaches over and puts his hand on the man’s back. “I didn’t mean to make you cry.”
The man reaches over and grabs Trebor’s wrist. With tears in his eyes, he says, “You are the kindest person I’ve met in a long while.”
Trebor invites him to church and the man agrees to come.
On the bus ride home, Trebor thinks about the man and offers up a prayer in his heart. “Lord, help him find hope in you.”
Trebor makes it home and strolls into his house and up the stairs.
His mother walks out of her bedroom and says, “Hello dear. Before you get too comfortable, can you go to the store and get a cake?”
Trebor laughs to himself. “Sure.”
“How was your day, dear?”
“I helped someone today and I feel brokenhearted and hopeful all at once.”
The End.
