Run Into the Little Girl’s Home
Trebor does not like to break rules, let alone the law. To run into a stranger’s home feels like crossing a scary line of morality in Trebor’s mind. Then again, he is motivated by a small group of huge dudes in hot pursuit.
He runs right past the little girl and through the unlocked door and slams it behind him. He peeks out the blinds and sees the huge dudes running past the home. Trebor breathes a sigh of relief until a high-pitched scream shakes him to his core. A woman yells frantically into her cell phone, “There is a teenage boy that forced his way into my phone. Help me! My daughter is playing outside and I think he’s got a gun.”
A gun? Trebor knows what he did was wrong but his decision could possibly get him killed. He dashes out the door and runs through the alley. A normal 45-minute walk home takes him 25 minutes on pure adrenaline. He dashes into his house and up the stairs.
His mother walks out of her bedroom and says, “Why are you all sweaty?”
Trebor stutters and says, “I missed the bus and tried to catch it a few stops in a row. Eventually, I realized that I was almost home already and just decided to jog the rest of the way.”
“You jog now?” says his mother, seemingly unconvinced. “Likely story.”
Trebor walks toward his room and his mother calls out to him again.
“Oh, Trebor, after you change, can you jog,” she uses her finger to make air quotes for the word ‘jog,’ “to the store and pick up a cake for dessert?”
The End.
